Using our Collections

Miner Library supports the study of the history of medicine through an extensive collection of rare books and manuscripts in the fields of medical, dental, and nursing history. The rare book and periodical collections are representative of western medical literature in every period and specialty.

The manuscript collections focus on University of Rochester Medical Center faculty, but we also hold additional resources related to medical history in Rochester and Upstate New York.

Many of the materials described in this guide may be used in the History of Medicine reading room by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please contact us using the submission form linked on the left. Please note: we prefer appointments to be booked at least two weeks in advance.
