Welcome

Writing your first research paper or getting started on a dissertation can be daunting. Even if you're a pro at academic and health sciences writing, it's hard to keep up with all the new journals and the changing publishing scene.

Miner Library has created this simple and basic guide to make your writing and publishing life easier. It covers:

• citing in your scholarly works using APA, AMA, and other citation styles
• managing your citations and formatting manuscripts
• writing in the health sciences, including literature reviews, dissertations, and theses
• deciding where to publish and choosing journals with the highest impact in your field

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your department liaison librarian. We're here to help! We can get you started with EndNote or RefWorks, help you select appropriate databases and devise effective literature search strategies, advise you on using Journal Citation Reports to find influential journals, and lots more.
