Graduate Student Guide: Writing and Citation Management

Information and tools for URMC Ph.D. and Master's students

Welcome

Writing your first research paper or getting started on a dissertation can be daunting. Even if you're a pro at academic and health sciences writing, it's hard to keep up with all the new journals and the changing publishing scene.

Miner Library has created this simple and basic guide to make your writing and publishing life easier. It covers:

  • managing your citations and formatting manuscripts
  • writing in the health sciences, including literature reviews, dissertations, and theses

If you have any questions, please feel free to book an appointment with a librarian. The librarians here can get you started with EndNote or RefWorks, help you select appropriate databases and devise effective literature search strategies, advise you on using Journal Citation Reports to find influential journals, and lots more.
